Charles Trent becomes TV star thanks to Recycleyourcar

Steve Rudkin, manager of the Charles Trent treatment facility in Paddock Wood, Kent has made his debut on the ITV Meridian evening news thanks to the PR Toolbox programme from Recycleyourcar.

The ITV report featuring the Paddock Wood facility was aimed at increasing awareness throughout Kent and East Sussex of the ELV Directive. It offered viewers practical advice on where to get their vehicle depolluted and processed for recycling, as well as what paperwork they need to take to an authorised treatment facility to receive a Certificate of Destruction.

Reycycleyourcar.co.uk, now the second largest network of Authorised Treatment Facilities (ATF) is the UK, has offered all of its members a free ‘PR Toolbox’ to help each facility raise their profile and notify their local community about the End of Life Vehicles Directive (ELV) and the environmental importance of recycling vehicles.

Although the ELV Directive states that the last owner of the vehicle is responsible for ensuring vehicles are recycled properly by ATFs, many people remain unaware of what the Directive is and what they must do to comply, let alone where their nearest treatment facility is – and that’s where the PR Toolbox comes in.

Each ATF in the Recycleyourcar.co.uk network has offered free PR assistance, including a press release that they can distribute to their local newspapers and radio stations, informing all drivers in the area about the ELV Directive and their local treatment facility. In addition, each ATF has been given a PR hotline number to call if they have any newsworthy stories that they would like help to publicise.

Commenting on the publicity the Paddock Wood site has received, Chas Ambrose, managing director at Charles Trent said: “We are absolutely delighted with the response following our appearance on ITV. Charles Trent operated facilities across a number of UK regions and publicity like this about the ELV Directive not only helps to increase the profile of specific sites but, hopefully, will encourage more people across the country to find authorised facilities to dispose of their cars.”
